Chiefs take lead in the seventh for victory over the Railroaders
The Fulton Railroaders started off their season on May 1, on the road against the Paducah Chiefs. The Railroaders fell behind the Chiefs in the bottom of the fourth as the Chiefs had bases loaded and a Sacrifice fly-out scored one run to make the score 1-0. The Railroaders fought back in the top of the fifth inning. Sam Vomhof had a single off of a line drive to center field putting him on first. Natham Bynum had a single to right field to move Vomhof into scoring position on second base. Luke McKenzie hit a ground ball up the middle and into center field to score Vomhof, tying the score at one. The Railroaders tacked on another run in the seventh inning to take the lead, 2-1. Britt Netterville hit a single to start the inning off and later advanced to second off of Sam Vomhof’s sacrifice bunt. Luke McKenzie hit another single to right field to score Vomhof. The Chiefs fought back and took the lead in the bottom of the seventh scoring three runs.
Keshaun Mays started on the mound for the Railroaders. Mays allowed one run on three hits in three and a third inning. During these innings Mays recorded three strike outs. Cade Killingsworth pitched one inning striking out one and allowed no hits. Bennett Christensen took the pitching loss for the Railroaders. Christensen pitched three and two-thirds innings, recording two strike outs and allowed three runs to come in to score on six hits
